1 on 1 Kitchen Knife Course
Learn to make a knife in a day. Join me in my workshop in the beautiful Norfolk Countryside.
Choose your desired style of knife between a Bunka, Santoku or Petty. We will create a 6” version of your chosen knife, starting with some beautiful materials. We will begin with a sheet of carbon or stainless steel, a block of wood or micarta, G10 sheet & carbon fibre rod. From these simple materials we will create a beautiful, high performance kitchen knife.
I will guide you through the process from start to finish. We will cut and shape the profile, drill pin holes, heat treat the steel, cut and flatten the handle block, glue liners, grind bevels, assemble the knife, shape the handle and sharpen.
The handle shape is based around my tried and tested design. Each one will be entirely unique due to the materials chosen by you. I have a large array of materials to choose from including beautiful dyed stabilised woods & some wild looking micarta. You will come away with the knowledge of how to make a knife as well as a beautiful tool that will last you a lifetime. It will be even more precious as you will have created it yourself.
There is a lot to get through to complete this in a day so the day runs from 8 30 – 6. Bring lunch and plenty of snacks, I will provide as much tea or coffee as you can handle. Due to space limitations this is currently a one-on-one course and I cannot accommodate spectators. Larger classes will be available later in the year. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
